On Saturday, the former Heisman Trophy winner took batting practice ahead of Milwaukee's game against the San Diego Padres. The next day, he took the reins as first-base coach for three innings during the Brewers game against the Colorado Rockies.
Yelich and Mayfield became friends after working out together in California in 2018, when Yelich joined the Brewers. Yelich invited Mayfield to be his guest for the last few games of spring training.
The Brewers open their season March 28 against the St. Louis Cardinals at Miller Park.
