Most summer camps evoke the image of campfire songs, capture the flag, s'mores and canoeing.
A new summer camp in Wautoma has all that and...beer. Oh, and wine tasting. Plus, whiskey tasting.
Drew Griswold of Camp Halcyon says their idea of an adult summer camp stemmed from family conversations about childhood experiences.
"We grew up going to summer camps. Some of our fondest memories from our childhood are summer camps. We thought, 'Why stop having the fun when you're old enough to have all the fun?' " he explained.
"We kind of want to take that summer camp experience and add an adult twist to it. While you do your canoeing and arts and crafts in the morning, in the afternoon, you could do your wine tasting, paintball...all different kinds of stuff."
Griswold's camp includes a three-night, all-inclusive package for adults - and he says you don't have to clean up as much after yourself than when you were a kid.
"We have staff that will be taking care of all the cleaning, all of that from camp that people didn't think so fondly of."
