WISCONSIN — There are many things that can go wrong when you are moving from one place to another. But moving during a pandemic can create other challenges. Before you pack up and hit the road here are a few things that you may want to think about to protect you and others.

While it is best to postpone a move if you or someone in your household is sick or has been exposed to the coronavirus, sometimes staying put is not an option. But, it is very important to let your movers know of this situation so that they and you can take the proper precautions to avoid getting sick.

While packing, it may be a good idea to clean and sanitize items and only use boxes that you have recently purchased or have been in your home for some time.

Check out your mover’s COVID-19 policies and ask questions about what they are doing to protect you during a move such as sanitizing trucks, protecting staff, and protecting you.

Check with your landlords about how to safely drop off or pick up keys, conduct apartment inspections, and arrange for any needed repairs. Keep in mind, during the pandemic, only emergency repairs may be offered at this time.
