OZAUKEE COUNTY -- Authorities say an Illinois man was killed in a car crash Friday morning in the Town of Fredonia.
It happened around 5 a.m. on STH 57 near Jay Road.
According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office, two vehicle were involved in the crash. One of those vehicles was a semi tanker hauling waste water, driven by a 63 year old Random Lake man. The tanker turned southbound onto STH 57 from Jay Road and a red Mercedes Benz Sprinter van struck the back of the van. The driver of the van, a 27-year-old man from Aurora, Illinois, died from his injuries in the crash. His identity is being withheld by authorities until family is notified.
The accident prompted the southbound lanes of STH 57 closed for several hours. Those lanes should reopen this afternoon.
The accident is under investigation by the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting.
