Weekend Events: Fall is in the air

Posted

Red and orange-colored leaves are slowly coating the ground and pumpkin spice is in the air. Fall is officially here and there are plenty of ways to celebrate it this weekend.

First up this weekend is China Lights at Boerner Botanical Gardens. The fluorescent light display runs Tuesdays-Sundays from Sept. 21 to Oct. 21.

State Fair Park is hosting two family-friendly events this weekend. Don't miss the chance to eat award-winning apple pie and go pumpkin bowling at Harvest Fest, or explore unique displays like a robot fighting large Tesla coils at Maker Faire.

Cafe Hollander is putting a Belgian twist on Oktoberfest this weekend with Kwaktoberfest. Live music and performances, as well as the sabering of DeuS Bottles every hour, will be on Downer Ave. Saturday from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m.

For some traditional fall activities head to Greendale on Friday and Saturday. The village is hosting Oktoberfest Biergarten Hay Days with hay rides, apple pie and scarecrow contests and more.

If you're looking to celebrate the United Performing Arts Fund's Performing Art Month then the Milwaukee Rep is the place to be. Showing this weekend is In The Heights, Guards at the Taj and Songs for Nobodies.

Last but certainly not least, it's the last weekend to watch the Brew Crew before they head into the playoffs. The Brewers play the Detroit Tigers all weekend at Miller Park.
