3 burned after fire pit explosion in Germantown

GERMANTOWN -- Multiple people were burned after gasoline was tossed into an open fire pit in Germantown early Saturday.
 

The incident happened at approximately 1 a.m. at a property on Kings Way.

Police found the victims at a McDonalds at River Crest Drive and County Line Road. They said a resident in the home tried to drive the victims to the hospital but stopped when they struck a street sign.

Germantown firefighters said the victim with the most serious injuries was a 25-year-old woman with second and third-degree burns to 40 percent of her body, including her respiratory area. Flight for life was called for her to be air lifted to Saint Mary's Burn Center. 

A second patient was also found at McDonald's with critical burns to 40-percent to her body.

A third victim was found with minor burns to the chest and hand.

Back at the origin of the incident, there was damage to the side of the home and patio.
