MILWAUKEE, Wis.-- Heidi Boyd of the Wisconsin Humane Society discussed dog parks and what to keep in mind when letting your dog run free.

Boyd says that when you bring your dog to the dog park that you need to pay attention to how your dog is responding to other dogs. If they are becoming territorial, you should sit them down for awhile. If the behavior continues, it's time to bring your dog home.

Boyd also says that bringing your dog's favorite toy is not a good idea because of how possessive the dog could become. One of the most important things to remember is to bring lots of water for them and to clean up after them to prevent the spread of disease.
