SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis. — A normally family-friendly and quiet neighborhood in Sheboygan Falls was shaken late Wednesday afternoon when residents reported hearing gunshots.
"They were saying, 'Where are you? Where are you?'" said 14-year-old Greyson Patz, who described hearing what sounded like five shots.
Greyson was playing basketball in his backyard when the commotion began at the house next door.

"I saw a man in a hoodie run into the garage," he recalled.
Shortly after the shots were fired, a 24-year-old suspect made a run for it.
"[He] drove off really fast down the road that way," he stated.
Police said the incident began when officers were dispatched just after 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, to a home situated between First Reformed Church and Blessed Trinity Parish for “two individuals suffering multiple gunshot wounds.”

There, officers found a 67-year-old man and a 39-year-old man who had been shot. Police say both were airlifted to the hospital and are expected to survive.
Police said the suspect knew the victims, arrived at their home with a handgun and three other people. Authorities say the suspect confronted the 39-year-old man inside the home, while the others waited outside.

During the confrontation, police say the suspect fired several rounds, hitting both men. In response, police said the 39-year-old retrieved a handgun and fired back at the suspect, who was not injured.
"I was kind of scared because I had just witnessed that whole thing," Greyson admitted. "I didn't know if they were going to hurt anyone else."
He hid until he felt safe enough to run inside his home.
The 24-year-old fled the scene before officers arrived. He was located shortly afterward in Ozaukee County and arrested after a brief pursuit. He was taken into custody by the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Department (OCSO) and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
Greyson's father, Kurt, noticed the large police presence on I-43 while driving home from Milwaukee.

"They had their lights on and they were going very quickly down the highway," he said.
In a release Thursday, the OCSO said the Wisconsin State Patrol deployed tire deflation devices near Good Hope Road, successfully deflating the 24-year-old’s vehicle’s front passenger-side tire. That’s when the suspect’s vehicle lost control, struck the rear of a Ford F-150 and came to a stop on the roadway south of Silver Spring Road.
He then got out of his vehicle while it was still in motion and attempted to flee on foot before being taken into custody, according to the release.

"This wasn't in some place that was just kind of hidden or off the beaten trail… This was something that happened on Main Street, Sheboygan Falls," Kurt remarked.
Police said they are actively investigating the incident, which they described as isolated, and added that no one else was injured in the shooting apart from the two men inside the home.
The Patz family, still in shock, reflected on the gravity of the situation: "Just a huge deal and a huge change for all of us."
The suspect, who has not been identified because he has not been formally charged, is being held at the Sheboygan County Detention Center on charges of recklessly endangering safety, endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Additional charges will be forwarded to the Ozaukee County District Attorney’s Office regarding the offenses committed in Ozaukee County, according to the OCSO.
