Brookfield native John Weinsheim is covering the 2018 winter Olympics as a photojournalist for NBC.
"He's in Pyeongchang (South Korea) doing the luge, the bobsled and the skeleton," said John's mom Marcy Weinsheim. "The first thing he said to me was, 'Mom it's two degrees above zero. It's not only cold its super cold because there isn't any heat in the rooms and they look like bundled snowmen'."
John took shared pictures of the Alpensia Sliding Center where the events he will film are taking place.
Mom says covering the winter games is perfect for her son who fell in love with skiing as a child.
"He was always the one to do the flip skiing and everything that had a risk element to it. So he's really reveling in this," said Marcy.
This is John Weinsheim's third trip to the Olympics. He won an Emmy covering the games in Rio.
Marcy is delighted her son is able to travel the globe and capture the thrill of the
Winter Olympics.
"It's a vicarious moment for him! He really loves it. He really does!" Marcy said.
