When you hear the words repeal and replace you probably think of Republican efforts to eliminate the Affordable Care Act.
But, are Democrats trying to do something similar with the GOP tax cuts? PolitiFact Wisconsin checks it out.
Democrats have been critical of the GOP tax cuts. House Speaker Paul Ryan - a key architect of the cuts even went so far as to say:"Democratic leaders are still out there spreading doom and gloom. They call it crumbs. They talk about a dark cloud. And they are promising to take it all away."
"The Republican tax reform became law in December in cut taxes for individuals businesses it also lead to pay raises and bonuses for some people and Ryan is saying Democrats are threatening to take away all of those benefits," said Tom Kertscher with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Take it all away. PolitiFact Wisconsin says Ryan was referring to Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and Senator Chuck Schumer. Pelosi has called the tax cuts a tax scam.
"Both Pelosi and Schumer have alluded too an overhaul of some sort - needing to make many changes in the law," said Kertscher, "so Ryan has something to his claim."
PolitiFact Wisconsin points out Senator Schumer has talked about rolling back what he called tax giveaways to big corporations but not everything.
"There are parts of the bill that they (Democrats) like such as tax cuts for the middle class," said Kertscher.
