Wisconsin college student Amber Wilde was last seen on Sept. 23, 1998. Nearly two decades later, police are officially calling her disappearance a murder case, according to court records unsealed Friday.

Law enforcement officials say they had previously filed a subpoena to search phone records for her boyfriend at the time, calling him a person of interest.

That person of interest is a 38-year-old man currently living in West Bend. TODAY'S TMJ4 won't name him until charges are filed.

Officers working on the case told our sister station NBC26 that they've always believed Wilde died under suspicious circumstances. Police hope the new information will help generate more leads from the public.
