Thousands of dollars in donated disposable diapers were stolen from a Wisconsin warehouse earlier this year, affecting a slew of low income families that count on the donations.

According to WGBA, about 100,000 diapers were stolen from the Fox Cities Diaper Bank in Fox Crossing sometime between January 3 and February 13, a lot totaling $45,000.

Diapers and money donated to the diaper bank reportedly go towards serving hundreds of low-income families in the area.

But it’s a tricky case to crack.

Police still aren’t sure how the 1,700 cases of diapers were moved, and if they were even transported from the warehouse at the same time.

WGBA reports that police say finding a lead will be difficult due to a lack of surveillance cameras in the area.

Nanci Micke, V.P. of marketing and communications for United Way Fox Cities – which operates the diaper bank – said the donations come from "churches, civic groups, many corporations that run diaper drives for us."
An initiative to replace the stolen diapers is currently underway.
