FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A 13-year-old Texas girl is accused in the fatal stabbing of a 14-year-old friend during an argument.
The Star-Telegram reports that State District Judge Timothy Menikos on Thursday ordered the juvenile suspect held in custody pending trial in the killing of Nylah Lightfoot in Fort Worth.
Fort Worth Police spokesman Bradley Perez says Nylah was killed after a verbal altercation early Tuesday at a Fort Worth apartment complex.
The Tarrant County medical examiner's office says Nylah was stabbed in the neck and chest, and was pronounced dead upon arrival at a Fort Worth hospital.
Perez says the teen suspect was arrested Wednesday but that he can't provide further information because she is a juvenile.
Nylah's mother, Anntoinette Carter, says the two girls were on-and-off friends.
