SAVANNAH, Tenn. — A Tennessee mother and her boyfriend have been accused of force-feeding batteries to a small child.

A grand jury indicted the two adults – 21-year-old Kristina Thompson and 19-year-old Lucas Todd – in the case. They’re accused of forcing a child under the age of 8 to eat several AA and AAA batteries with the intention of causing serious bodily harm.

The child also suffered several bruises and fractured bones. He or she is expected to recover.

If convicted of aggravated child abuse, the suspects face a minimum prison sentence of 15 years.
