(WTHR) A Greensburg, Indiana man is facing a murder charge after walking into the police station and admitting that he killed his girlfriend.
Jason Eaton, 43, has been charged with the murder of 44-year-old Wendy Sabatini.
On Tuesday evening, Greensburg Police say Eaton arrived at the police station and asked to speak with an officer. Eaton allegedly told officers that he had shot Sabatini after she refused an offer of marriage. Eaton told the officer that he "messed up" and thought he had killed Sabatini.
When police arrived at Sabatini's home they found Sabatini's son, who had arrived home from school and was eating dinner, thinking his mother was at work. Officers searched the home and found Sabatini dead in an upstairs bedroom from a single gunshot wound to the head.
"I'm devastated. Something like this doesn't happen in our small town. The neighbors are numb," said Bonnie Koors.
