The town of Kenner, Louisiana is split on the decision by the mayor to ban all Nike products following the company's ad featuring Colin Kaepernick.

Hundreds of people called on Mayor Ben Zahn to rescind his ban on Nike in a rally held Monday.

Zahn announced the ban in a memo, which states, "Under no circumstances will any Nike product or any product with the Nike logo be purchased for use or delivery at any City of Kenner Recreation Facility."

Although Zahn said he applauds Nikes's message of inclusion and chasing your dreams, he says his ban was to prevent city booster clubs from purchasing Nike products in order to protect taxpayer dollars.

Nike has been under fire and also received praise for their ad with Kaepernick, who began the NFL's national anthem protests in 2016.
