Peoria, Arizona officials say a 4-year-old boy has died after he was pulled from a backyard pool on Monday morning.
Emergency responders were called to a home near 91st and Peoria avenues around 8 a.m. after the child was pulled from a pool.
Peoria Fire officials said the child was at a babysitter's house at the time. The pool was fenced and it's unknown how he got past the fence or how long he was in the water.
The child was reportedly unresponsive and was taken to the hospital in critical condition but did not survive.
No further information about the incident has been released.
So far this year, there has been just over a dozen media-reported drowning and near-drowning incidents involving children in Arizona. This is the seventh deadly incident.
