(KWWL) A tiny piglet is being called a miracle. She was the only survivor when more than 1,000 pigs died in a hog confinement accident near Independence, Iowa.

She was born at a concentrated animal feeding operation facility. She was supposed to be turned into food. She was also a runt, so her end date was sooner.

Then, during this brutal winter, the power went out at the facility she was in. All 1,000 plus pigs in the facility died when there was nothing to keep them warm in freezing temperatures.

She was the only pig to survive. She lost her family and friends. Wildthunder Wildlife & Animal Rehabilitation and Sanctuary rescued her, and she eventually made her way to Fabsits Farm in Harvard, Illinois.

The piglet didn't have a name, so her new family called her "Faith".

"I dubbed her Faith the miracle pig because she's kind of a miracle," says Kate Fabsits.
