A New Mexico mother and veteran EMT received the worst call of her life last Friday.

Jessie Carabajal works as an EMT for a service based just south of Gallup. Her shift on September 9 started like any other day.

"We heard a call come in that there was an unresponsive female, and it looked like a vehicle accident. So, I told my partner 'Let's go, we gotta go. We were tired, we hadn't eaten," said Carabajal.

Carabajal says she and her partner knew the area pretty well. The call took them to Ramah, southeast of Gallup.

"My partner said 'This one's gone', so I went to the patient that I was gonna have and I looked...and, I said 'Oh my gosh, that's my daughter!', and I looked real quick back to the other patient and I said, 'Oh my God, that's my other daughter," said Carabajal.

The victims were her adult daughters, 34-year-old Kaylessa and 29-year-old Kaylena, both dead.

"So, I sat there and I prayed...because I didn't know what else to do and I know they were gone. It was one of my biggest fears as an EMT," said Carabajal.
