(NBC News) In the past 24-hours, emergency crews in New Haven, Connecticut have responded to at least 76 overdoses on the synthetic marijuana drug K2.

The outbreak began in a park near Yale University, called the New Haven Green.

Investigators believe the K2 drug may have been laced with an opioid like fetanyl.

The dozens of victims were rushed to area hospitals, where some were in critical condition. So far, no deaths have been reported.

Police have arrested three people, but so far have not confirmed if any of them were responsible for distributing the drugs.
