DETROIT, Michigan — A Detroit meteorologist, Jessica Starr, died Wednesday after taking her own life, according to the television news station where she was employed.

Fox 2 Detroit posted the information about Starr's death on its Twitter page Thursday morning. It also was retweeting posts by other TV station staffers sharing memories of their time with the meteorologist.

The station said it was informed of the news Wednesday night.

Starr was a Michigan native who received two meteorology degrees from Michigan State University and Mississippi State University. She was married and had two children, according to her co-worker, Roop Raj.

Some of her co-workers who expressed condolences encouraged viewers to reach out to suicide prevention hotlines if they have suicidal feelings, or know someone who may have them.
