An early look at what the debates may look like

NEW YORK -- Voters got a look at what the upcoming presidential debates may look like when Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump took the stage in New York Wednesday to answer questions on military and veterans' issues.

Clinton vowed to defeat ISIS without committing ground troops.

"We are not putting ground troops into Iraq ever again. And we're not putting ground troops into Syria," she vowed.

She insisted that Donald Trump also supported the Iraq war, which he now claims he didn't do.

"I have taken responsibility for my decision. He refuses to take responsibility for his support," Clinton said.

Trump, meanwhile, defended praising Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"If he says great things about me, I'm going to say great things about him," Trump said.

He also criticized our military leaders.

"The generals have been reduced to rubble. They have been reduced to a point where it's embarrassing to our country," Trump claimed.
