NEWARK -- A 68-year-old woman who relied on a oxygen tank powered by electricity died yesterday after the family claims that power company PSEG cut off her power.
Linda had been in hospice care with congestive heart failure since the middle of April. Her family said she was in good spirits by relied on her oxygen tank to breathe. The hospice nurse said Linda would pass in God's time.
There was a delinquent balance on the account, but the family was trying to pay it down. According to the family, the bill is always round $300 dollars each month and this month it was $400. Linda's son's bank records show that he paid the company $500 for the bill, two days before the power was shut off.
The family also says that they received no notice prior to the company shutting it off.
