A 37-year-old woman was injured July 4th after riding her bike into an open bridge span following the fireworks show in Menasha.
It happened around 10:30 p.m. on the Racine Street bridge. Traffic was heavy at the time.
According to police, people in the area who saw what happened helped pull the woman and her bike to safety. She did not fall into the river below. They alerted the bridge operator who made sure not to move the span until the woman was out of harm's way.
The woman suffered injuries to her face. She's being treated at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah.
The accident remains under investigation.
