It all started shortly before 7 a.m. Sunday with the fatal shooting of 42-year-old Gabriel Sanchez at a home in the 2300 block of South 92nd Street in West Allis.

Police locked down the neighborhood, searched the apartment building and a nearby church that the suspect is associated with, but were not able to find the suspect.

Then, shortly before 3 p.m., police responded to reports of a drive-by shooting on I-90/94 in Sauk County.

Czaczkowski, her husband, and two of their children were on their way home from the Wisconsin Dells when they passed a Chevy Blazer on the highway. Police say three people were in the Blazer, including the suspect in the West Allis shooting.

The driver of the Blazer rolled down the window and fired three shots at the vehicle, according to police. Czaczkowski, who was sitting in the passenger seat, was shot in the neck. The suspect has since been taken into custody.
