MADISON -- The state Department of Revenue is giving away $13 million, and they want you to get your piece.
The giveaway is part of the department's property matching program, which uses tax records to find people who own unclaimed property.
Some Wisconsinites will get a check in the mail for their unclaimed property, while those with larger value amounts will get a letter with more information on how to file their claim.
Earlier this month, the department sent out more than 15,000 checks worth just over $8 million.
The unclaimed property includes "funds from savings or checking accounts, uncashed dividends, insurance policies, or other accounts that the owner may have forgotten."
