MILWAUKEE — Wisconsin has tallied the highest number of deaths due to COVID-19 on a single day since the coronavirus pandemic began.
27 deaths due to complications from the coronavirus were reported Wednesday, according to the DHS. That is the highest daily death toll since the pandemic began. Tuesday's total was also high, at 17. The previous worst day for reported deaths was on May 27, when 22 deaths were reported.
Since May, the daily death toll due to COVID-19 hovered between an average of zero and 13.
Wednesday's update now raises the total number of people who have died from coronavirus to at least 1,327 in Wisconsin. On Monday, Johns Hopkins University declared that over 1 million people across the world have died because of the virus.
