In perhaps an unfortunate sign of the times, attendees at this year’s Wisconsin State Fair will have to walk through a metal detector.
It will be the first time the safety devices will be used at the annual event.
Summerfest will also use metal detectors for the first time this year.
A State Fair spokesman told the Journal-Sentinel that plans to use the metal detectors were in place well before the mass shooting at an Orlando nightclub.
The Fair will be held August 4-14.
