MILWAUKEE -- Wisconsin is ranked as the state with the sixth highest income taxes in the country.

According to a report by 24/7 Wall Street, the state's rate of 11 percent while also having the 24th highest per capita income in the country at $46,762 puts it at number six.

The report reviewed the portion of income that goes to state and local governments' taxes, but did not include the federal taxes. Approximately 78 percent of taxes go to state and local governments.

New York, Connecticut and New Jersey rounded out the top three for highest income taxes on the list. Others in the top 10 include Illinois and Minnesota.
