Gainwell Technologies LLC, a business associate of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), announced that an "unauthorized individual" may have exposed information of participants in Wisconsin's Medicaid program.

Gainwell said that the individual gained access to an account on Oct. 29, 2020, and may have exposed members' names, identification numbers and billing codes.

On Jan. 15, notifications were mailed to 1,281 Wisconsin Medicaid members whose information may have been accessed.

Those members have also been offered free credit monitoring for one year.

Gainwell and DHS discovered the unauthorized access on Nov. 16 and say they have been working together to prevent incidents like this from occurring in the future.

Members who received a notification letter or have questions about this incident can call 1.855.525.2743 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. CT Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. CT Saturday and Sunday.
