WHITEWATER, Wis. -- Manufacturers here in Wisconsin are joining the fight against Hurricane Harvey.

Workers at Generac started preparing for Harvey last week before the Hurricane made landfall. The company makes generators and those will be in high demand in Texas.

"We began looking at Harvey early last week. We were aware that it could have an impact on Texas. We had storm response teams deployed by Friday when the storm made landfall," said Art Aiello with Generac Power Systems, Inc.

The storm response teams will make sure stores in Texas don't run out of generators.

Hundreds of thousands of people are without power along the Gulf Coast, and the need for generators in that area is expected to continue for weeks.

"It's a very stressful time for folks," said Aiello. "If they already have a generator, we want to make sure it's running. We want to alleviate stress to the best of our ability."

Wisconsin is home to a lot of generator manufacturers.

Several other companies including Wacker-Neuson are also making generators and pumps to ship south.
