MILWAUKEE- A Wisconsin man was arrested for his sixth OWI early Monday morning on Hampton Ave., just west of I-43.
Deputies saw Adam Jon Spencer sitting in his vehicle with the keys is the ignition as he was stopped in traffic.
Spencer’s last five OWI’s were in 1997, 1998, and three in 1999.
According to Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, Spencer said that he pulled his vehicle over to make a phone call, but didn’t realize he was still in traffic.
Deputies said that Spencer had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and smelled of alcohol on his breath. They asked Spencer how much he had to drink and Spencer said, “nothing,” according to authorities.
Spencer was asked to perform a standardized field sobriety test, and as he exited the vehicle deputies saw a Miller Lite in the cup holder.
Spencer stopped midway through the test, and then put his hands behind his back to be arrested.
Spencer refused to submit a blood draw at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital. A search warrant for blood was obtained by a judge.
If convicted, Spencer faces a Class H Felony with fines up to $10,000 and six years in prison.
