A Wisconsin man is accused of making threats that forced a technical college in Grant County to go on lockdown Wednesday. Officials say the man was angered by his wife's Facebook activity.

According to Channel3000.com, Southwest Technical College in Fennimore was locked down and closed due to the incident.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office says 42-year-old William Howell went to the school with the intention of harming a student he believed was having an affair with his estranged wife. Both the man Howell was allegedly targeting and his wife are students at the school.

Investigators say Howell believed his wife was having an affair with the man after discovering Tuesday evening that he had liked photos of their children on Facebook.

Howell allegedly sent his estranged wife angry Facebook and text messages that included threats to come to the school and assault the man who had liked the pictures, according to investigators.

Police say Howell tried to confront the woman at her apartment Wednesday morning, but never actually went to the school campus, but officials decided to shut the school down for the day during the investigation.

Howell faces disorderly conduct charges and was released on a cash bond, Channel3000.com reported.

Fennimore is located 150 miles west of Milwaukee.
