Wisconsin deer hunting season opens for bow hunters

Hunters are hitting the woods this weekend as bow hunting season begins.

Wisconsin's Department of Natural Resources is forecasting a fun and full fall hunt for Wisconsinites.

" Deer numbers continue to look good across the state," said Kevin Wallenfang, Wisconsin DNR deer and elk ecologist.

The DNR also boasts bow hunting isn't just for the male hunter either, the use of both conventional and crossbow account for more participation by women.

This year's archery and crossbow season runs from Sept 15 through January 6, 2019.
