OCONTO -- A Balsam fir grown by Dave and Mary VanderVelven of Whispering Pines Tree Farm has been selected for the official White House Christmas display.

White House officials were in Oconto Tuesday to select the tree, which stands at a whopping 18 and a half feet. It will be presented to First Lady Michelle Obama the day after Thanksgiving.

Whispering Pines co-owner Dave VanderVelden has submitted trees for display for the past four years, and this year his efforts finally paid off. VanderVelden was quick to credit all of his employees for the winning effort.

"All the guys that work for me, we're all a team," he told TODAY'S TMJ4. "My name may be on it, but their names should be too."

Whispering Pines Tree Farm was founded in 1984, and now has three locations. You can get more information on their website.
