DELAVAN — A police department near the WI/IL border had to remind residents that though recreational marijuana is legal in Illinois, it remains illegal in Wisconsin.
Recreational marijuana became legal in Illinois on Jan. 1, drawing in millions of dollars in just the first day.
The City of Delavan Police Department posted on Facebook that on Saturday, they had to remind residents that it is illegal to bring it into Wisconsin.
"As a reminder, if you choose to go to Illinois to purchase, smoke, eat or whatever you decide to do with it, remember it is still illegal to be in possession of it here," wrote the department.
