MILWAUKEE — Wind speeds topped off at 79 mph at Mitchell International Airport Tuesday night, according to Storm Team 4 Meteorologists Brian Gotter and Brian Niznanski.

Severe weather rolled through southeastern Wisconsin Tuesday night, bringing lots of lightning, heavy downpours, and even some hail. Even after the storms were over the lake, though, the wind stuck around.

Our Brian Gotter reported a wind gust of 79 mph at the airport Tuesday night during our 6 p.m. broadcast, saying there were even some power lines and trees down in the area.

Gusts around 60 mph were also reported in Pleasant Prairie and across southeastern Wisconsin.

Due to the winds, there was a wind advisory in place until 4 a.m. Wednesday morning, with wind gusts up to 50 mph expected.

Around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, our Brian Niznanski reported consistent wind gusts of around 30 mph. Those wind gusts have died down since then, but temperatures have dropped by about 30 degrees since Tuesday.
