MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Brewers paid tribute to fallen Police Officer Matthew Rittner at Monday night’s game. Before the game against the Atlanta Braves, Rittner’s wife Caroline threw out one of the ceremonial first pitches.

Rittner and his wife were married at the ballpark in 2017 and the police officer was a big fan of the team. His colleague Captain Derrick Harris said, “after last weeks trial kind of reliving those tragic moments all over again, to have the Brewers do such a kind thing, that means a lot to us.”

Brewers Manager Craig Counsell said, “It’s really our honor to do this tonight, because as much as anything Matthew not only was he a huge part of this community but he was a big Brewer fan.”

Rittner’s wife found out days after he was killed that she was pregnant with their child. The man who killed Rittner, Jordan Fricke was found guilty last week and will be sentenced to a mandatory life sentence in August.
