The worst of the cold is now in the past but it is a slow climb out of the ice box. More clouds roll in tonight and a few flurries may fly across our skies but no accumulation is expected, cold continues to be the headline overnight with lows near zero and a breezy wind keeping wind chills below zero.

Tuesday will start with some clouds but partly sunny skies will help make the afternoon look better, even if it doesn't feel better. Temperatures rise into the teens on Tuesday but a westerly wind at 10-20mph, gusting to 30mph, will keep wind chills from climbing far above zero even by the afternoon.

Warming slowly continues on Wednesday as the wind begins to diminish, so low 20s will at least feel warmer with the help of blue skies. Thursday is mostly sunny with temperatures in the mid-20s (think mind-January temps). Thursday night and into Friday morning a storm system will clip us as it passes to our south, bringing very light snow to the region. Warmer air arrives on Friday with highs in the 30s and some afternoon sun possible.

Saturday looks to be the drier day out of the weekend with partly cloudy skies but get the umbrella ready for rain moving in late Saturday night and throughout the day on Sunday with temperatures expected to be near 40 degrees. There is a chance for the rain to change to snow Sunday night and into Monday morning but this looks to be mainly a rain event at this point, stay tuned to the forecast to see if the system stays on track.
