An 18-year-old Waukesha man has been charged with secretly recording people with hidden cameras at a Culver’s and at Waukesha West High School.

Last month, an employee at Culver's found two hidden cameras in the employee bathroom, according to Waukesha police. Another employee, Scott Schwantes, admitted to putting the cameras in the bathroom, and he was immediately fired.

On Tuesday, police found that Schwantes had also recorded video looking up girls skirts at Waukesha West with a camera hidden in his backpack. He reportedly placed the backpack in the path of female students who would have to step over the bag.

They recovered videos of Culver’s employees using the bathroom and videos of Waukesha West students.

Schwantes is facing four counts of capturing an intimate representation without consent, three of which the victim was under 18. Each count carries a maximum sentence of six years, if he’s convicted.

The school district says they are cooperating with the police investigation.

Police are asking any female students who had class or the same lunch period as Schwantes to contact Detective Mike Carpenter at 262-524-3923.
