Dash cam video captured Illinois teens leading Waukesha County authorities on a high-speed chase.
Ashley Huerta and Kyle McGowan have been arrested and charged for stealing a car and evading officers at speeds over 130 miles per hour.
The chase started around 1:30 a.m. Monday. Several Waukesha Sheriff’s deputies were called to I-94 in Delafield for a dangerous pursuit.
Dash cam video shows an SUV speeding toward an exit with several squads on its tail. Deputies were able to set up stop sticks to stop the car. From there the suspects ran off.
It didn’t take long for Huerta to be caught and handcuffed. However, her accomplice was nowhere to be found. Sheriff's deputies surrounded the area for several hours and eventually put out a reverse 911 call to alert residents.
"They knew to lock their doors and if they saw anything to call us immediately," said Jennifer Wallschlaeger with the Waukesha County Sheriff Department.
That led to a lead shortly after 5 a.m. in Kelly Drzewieki's neighborhood.
"I kind of looked through the windows, opened the windows," Drzewieck said.
Drzewiecki didn't realize the suspect was hiding in his shed.
"I was kind of nervous, it was kind of nerve wracking."
The criminal complaint says a deputy saw McGowan poke his head out of the shed. Law enforcement approached and the teen was taken into custody without incident.
Chicago authorities said there was a handgun in the SUV when it was originally stolen. The gun has not been located.
