Milwaukee Washington High School sophomore Mike Foster is one of the biggest names in basketball recruiting.
Foster is the no. 3 ranked basketball prospect, nationally, in the class of 2021.
He’s just 15-years old, but has already attracted attention from basketball fans and recruiting news services across America.
Foster said he’s pleased with his ranking, but doesn't get caught up in it.
“I don’t like talking about my ranking a lot, for some reason,” Foster said.
“I don’t pay attention to all the hype. I just play,” he added.
Foster’s coach at Washington, Freddie Riley, said his star player has handled that hype well.
“He’s done well just keeping things in perspective,” Riley said. “He understands his schooling is number one, and his character is number two.”
Foster’s 19-year old sister, Infinity, is impressed with how Mike has been able to juggle basketball practices and workouts each day with his classes, homework, and the day-to-day stresses of high school.
“At his age, to be able to do that, he’s really inspiring,” Infinity Foster said.
Mike credited his family and coaches with keeping him grounded amid all the national attention his game his generated. Mike currently maintains a 3.4 GPA.
He pledged to continue to work hard in the classroom, and on the court, going forward.
“It’s all just about having the right people around you,” he said. “Not having someone that’s talking a lot about basketball but a little about school.”
