Warming centers to open Wednesday night to count Milwaukee's homeless population

MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Continuum of Care is planning to count the city's homeless population Wednesday night.

The city's goal is to get "an accurate representation of how many people experience homelessness on a single night in Milwaukee County." Last year, 885 people were counted as being homeless in the city.

Anyone experiencing homelessness should go to a warming room to seek shelter and they will be counted. Those who attend will be in contact with street outreach teams, 211 services, and receive items for basic needs, such as winter clothing and hygiene products.

Warming rooms will be open at the following locations on Wednesday, January 22:

St. Ben’s Meal Program
924 W. State St.
Open 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
Serves single adults experiencing homelessness.

Pathways
1615 S. 22nd St.
Open 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
Serves single adults experiencing homelessness.

One God Ministry
7301 W. Burleigh St.
Open 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
Serves families experiencing homelessness.

Divine Intervention Ministry to the Homeless, Tippecanoe Church
125 W. Saveland Ave.
Open 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
Serves single adults experiencing homelessness.
Call 211 for entry.

Ephesians Missionary Baptist Church
2412 N. 6th St.
Open 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
Serves single adults experiencing homelessness.

Repairers of the Breach
1335 W. Vliet St.
Open 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. if the temperature is 20 degrees or below.
Guests must arrive no later than 10:00 p.m.
Serves single adults experiencing homelessness.

Wilson Park Senior Center
2601 W. Howard Ave.
Open 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
Serves single adults experiencing homelessness.
