CHICAGO — A world-class video game-themed hotel is coming to Chicago later this year.

Atari, an entertainment production company, has teamed up with GSD Group, a leading innovation agency, to build a new state of the art video game-themed hotels across the U.S.

The group plans to open eight new hotels later this year, one of them in Chicago.

The first hotel expected to break ground will be the Phoenix location, with the other seven coming later in the year.

These new hotels will feature fully immersive experiences for every age including the latest in virtual and augmented reality. Additionally, some of the hotels will also include state-of-the-art venues and studios which can be used for esports events.

“Atari Hotels will be the first of their kind in the U.S., offering gamers of all ages the ultimate in immersive entertainment and in every aspect of gaming. We’re excited to be working on this project with such great partners and to bring a big win to Arizona,” said Shelly Murphy, founder of GSD Group.

Murphy will lead the development and designing alongside Napolean Smith III, producer of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film franchise reboot.

In addition to the Phoenix and Chicago locations, Atari will also build hotels in Las Vegas, Denver, Austin, Seattle, San Francisco, and San Jose.
