The victims in the fatal aircraft crash on the Rock River Tuesday night were identified Wednesday.

David Plambeck, 51, of Edgerton, Wisconsin and Max Burlingame, 16, of Fort Atkinson both died in the crash near the Fort Atkinson Municipal Airport, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff.

In a news release, the sheriff said the aircraft took off from Fort Atkinson Airport, but for unknown reasons, had to land on the Rock River. The cause of the crash is still unknown as well.

When crews arrived, the aircraft was almost completely submerged, and the two were unconscious.

Boaters in the area helped attempts revive the pilot and passenger, but they were unsuccessful.

The aircraft is a Pegasus Quantum Light Sport Aircraft and is registered to Plambeck.

A spokeswoman with the FAA told TODAY’S TMJ4 the NTSB is likely taking the lead on the investigation, which could take 12 to 16 months to complete.
