Vice President Mike Pence is expected to speak at the Wisconsin Lutheran College commencement on Saturday.

The commencement ceremony will take place at Franklin Field in Franklin on Saturday. However, it is a private event and all tickets have been reserved for graduates and their families.

According to Wisconsin Lutheran College, the vice president was selected because he "exemplifies the qualities of Christian servant leadership and exhibits Christian values through his service to the United States of America."

The college said they recognize that students and staff have different political views and ideologies, but they are hoping that students and families can "leave partisan politics at the door and to celebrate America, our freedoms, Christian servant leadership, and our graduates' immense accomplishments."

Wisconsin Lutheran College also said that having Vice President Pence as the speaker is not an endorsement of any political party, candidate, or party platform.

"We also believe that regardless of individual political affiliations, we will be honored to have in our midst the Vice President of the United States of America," said the college on their website.
