MILWAUKEE — Verlo Mattress teamed up with Volunteers of America to help fire victims by delivering free queen-sized and twin-sized mattresses.
Seven new mattresses were delivered Wednesday morning after a fire destroyed two apartments and damaged six others on Nov. 7.
According to a press release, residents of the eight-unit apartment building have special needs. One of the residents is a quadriplegic and another is a senior citizen who survived a traumatic brain injury and stroke.
Crews are currently working on repair the building but two of the apartments were destroyed, four have extensive damage. It is unknown at this time how long it will be until residents can move back into their apartments. However, the residents of the last two apartments, which suffered less damage, are expected to be able to move back in March.
The press release said, "Verlo is involved in the community. For many years it has donated beds to nonprofit organizations like the Volunteers of America. Verlo is focused on improving lives through quality sleep."
