UWM students, alumni, and future Panthers were glued to every move on the court Tuesday night as the men’s basketball team played for a chance to advance to the NCAA Tournament despite an 11-23 record.

The Panthers fell to Northern Kentucky in the end, but put up a good fight against their Horizon Conference foe. The final score was 59-53.

“Not the outcome we wanted. We were hoping for that Cinderella story,” said Matt Schachte.

“We came from out of nowhere we were 10th seed," said Zachary Chambers. "And look where we are now. So I can go home happy that we made it this far.”

The loss effectively ends the Panther’s season. Despite the poor regular season they stormed through the Horizon League tournament to make it to the championship game. The Panthers were one win away from becoming the team with the worst record to earn an NCAA Tournament bid to play for the National Championship.
