OAK CREEK -- UPS announced Monday that it expects to hire more than 500 seasonal employees in the Greater Milwaukee area to support the anticipated increase in package volume that will begin in November and continue through January 2019.
Nationally, UPS expects to hire about 100,000 seasonal employees.
“Every year, we deliver the holidays for millions of customers,” said Jim Barber, chief operating officer in a news release. “In order to make that happen, we also deliver thousands of great seasonal jobs at our facilities across the country.”
The full- and part-time seasonal positions – primarily package handlers, drivers and driver-helpers – have long been an entry point for permanent employment at the company, UPS says. Many senior UPS executives, including Chief Executive Officer David Abney and other members of the company’s senior leadership team, started their UPS careers as part-time employees.
Tractor-trailer and package car driver jobs start at $18.75 per hour. Pay for package handlers start at $10.35 per hour and $15.00 for driver-helpers.
UPS is hiring at the following three local locations.
· Oak Creek – 6800 S 6th St, Oak Creek, WI 53154
· Elm Grove – 12400 W Bluemound Rd, Elm Grove, WI 53122
· Sturtevant – 10204 Hwy 11, Sturtevant, WI 53177
