Milwaukee Police are investigating two armed robberies that happened near the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus.
The first happened around 9 a.m, Tuesday in the 2800 block of N. Prospect Avenue. Milwaukee police said a 22-year-old student was walking when she was approached by two male suspects, who implied they had a gun. They took her backpack and cell phone before fleeing in an SUV.
The second happened around 9:15 a.m. in the 3500 block of N. Maryland Avenue. A 19-year-old had her phone stolen at a bus stop.
The two suspects then led police on a chase. The SUV reportedly rammed a Shorewood squad car assisting in the pursuit.
The SUV was found a short time later in the 4700 block of N. Port Washington Road in Glendale. The suspects ditched the vehicle and managed to get away on foot.
Police say the vehicle was reported stolen.
UWM police said the suspects were described as two black males about 20-years-old.
One suspect had a medium complexion, average to slim build and was 5’10-5’11 tall. He was wearing blue or faded jeans, a winter hat (possibly red), and a gray jacket with red sleeves.
